UCA, FELEKNAS

   A member of the Left Party from Germany, Feleknas Uca was also a member of the European Parliament (MEP) of the European Union (EU) from 1999 to 2009. In this role, she maintained close links with far left groups in Turkey, particularly Kurdish nationalist ones. She was also a member of the EU-Turkey joint parliamentary committee. Until recently she was the world's only Yezidi elected to a legislature. However, three Yezidis were elected to the Iraqi Parliament in 2005.
