ZIBARIS

The Zibari tribe was a historic enemy of the Barzanis, whom the Zibaris saw as late-comers rivaling them for control of the area they both inhabited along the Greater Zab River in the northernmost regions of Iraqi Kurdistan. (Zibar is located just south of Bar-zan.) As such, the Zibaris were josh who usually supported the Iraqi government against Mulla Mustafa Barzani. To help end this feud, Barzani married Hamayl Zibari, who became his third wife and the mother of Massoud Barzani, the current president of the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP).
Symbolic of this new cooperation, Hoshyar Zibari is a high-ranking member of the KDP, longtime spokesman for it on foreign affairs, and currently the foreign minister of Iraq.
